On this historic year, as we
celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the Gaza Chamber of Commerce,
Industry, and Agriculture, we proudly stand before a journey filled with
contributions and achievements that spanned 100 years—during which the chamber
has become a pioneering economic edifice and a unifying home for the
Palestinian private sector. Since its establishment in 1925, the Chamber has
witnessed major economic and social transformations and has consistently been
at the forefront of institutions leading economic work in Gaza. It has defended
the interests of merchants, industrialists, and farmers, and has strived in
every way to support the business environment and promote sustainable
development despite recurring challenges.
Today, with the passing of a
century of progress, the private sector in Gaza faces unprecedented challenges
due to the recent war, which has cast a heavy shadow over all aspects of life.
The war has inflicted severe damage on infrastructure and economic facilities
and has directly impacted traders and business owners. Yet, the Gaza Chamber of
Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture remains committed to its
mission—steadfastly supporting various economic sectors by offering services
that empower business owners to endure, rebuild, improve the quality of their
operations, and cooperate with all relevant parties to achieve economic
recovery and revitalize commercial, industrial, agricultural, and service
sectors. Special focus is placed on strengthening local and international
partnerships and integrating them with the Palestinian economy.
Our vision for the second
centenary is centered on rebuilding the local economy based on modern digital
foundations that align with global transformations, through promoting the
concepts of green economy and sustainability, leveraging the blue economy to
develop the maritime sector, and encouraging entrepreneurship as a key pillar
of growth. It also includes empowering emerging models like remote work to meet
the demands of the global digital economy and create new job opportunities. We
prioritize the development of local companies and enhancing their resilience in
the face of crises, linking them with local and international investment
opportunities to help achieve a sustainable Palestinian economy.
We continue to work on developing
digital services and adopting the latest technological solutions to facilitate
procedures and improve the business environment. In parallel, we aim to
strengthen cooperation with local and international partners to open markets,
attract investments, and expand foreign trade. Simultaneously, the chamber is
mobilizing efforts to rebuild the affected economic sector and implement
sustainable economy concepts across all industries, adopting effective
strategies to confront the challenges of climate change and its impact on
production through innovative solutions that promote long-term economic
development.
Finally, as we lay the foundation
for the Chamber’s second centenary, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to
supporting the Palestinian business community, strengthening its resilience,
and working tirelessly toward a prosperous and sustainable economic future,
despite all challenges.
Together, toward a stronger and
more sustainable economic future.
